We all experience moments when we feel like we are moving too fast, we have the world’s weight on our shoulders, and we are constantly overthinking and worrying, which can feel incredibly draining.
If you are currently feeling overwhelmed at the moment and feel you can’t break out of the cycle, these are a few tips and tricks I have learnt over the years when struggling.
- Pause and take a breath – I know it might sound simple, but it is effective. When you find yourself feeling overwhelmed, pause for a moment, take a deep breath and give yourself a few minutes to just slow down; this can make a huge difference and enables you to think more clearly.
- Go for a walk – I say this a lot, but going for a walk, putting your headphones in or even just listening to your surroundings can make you feel that bit better. You are out in the fresh air, moving your body, which enables you to clear your mind.
- Take some time to rest – Sometimes when you are overworked and feeling physically drained, this can also take a toll on your mental health and can feel extremely overwhelming, so take some time for yourself and allow your body and mind to rest, have a chilled day at home, take a nap and relax, your body will thank you for this.
- Identify what is overwhelming you – Think of what it is that is overwhelming you and write down everything that’s on your mind. You don’t have to solve everything right away but seeing it all in front of you can help make it feel more manageable. Prioritize the tasks that need attention now and save the rest for later.
- Ask for help – I know that sometimes it is easier said than done but asking for help is more than okay. You don’t have to do everything on your own. If you’re feeling overwhelmed, it’s okay to ask for help from friends, family, or colleagues. Whether it’s asking someone to take over a task or simply talking through your feelings with someone who listens, reaching out can provide relief.
I hope you have found some comfort in this short blog and can take away these tips and use them when you are feeling overwhelmed. Remember, I know it might feel hard right now, but this feeling will pass.
Lots of love x
