Taking care of ourselves and our mental health doesn’t require massive changes, in fact, just making small changes to your everyday life can have a significant on how you feel and your overall mental wellbeing. Here are a few simple habits you can build into your life to help support your mental health.
- Daily Affirmations – I understand this isn’t for everybody and you may feel a bit silly doing this to start off with but the way you speak to yourself and what you say can alter you mindset to a more positive one and this really does work. For example every day I wake up and say, “today is going to be a good day” or I ask myself “what am I going to achieve today”, this way your brain automatically adjusts to this mindset, ultimately setting you up for a better day.
- Move Your Body – The way moving your body instantly puts you in a better mood is incredible!, I will ALWAYS say this, and I know I write this on almost every blog post, but it works! Go for a walk, stretch, do some yoga, train in the gym, go for a run, whatever works for you, get your body moving and release those endorphins, it’s a game changer and something I will always recommend.
- Journalling – Another recommendation I like to mention, journalling has been great for me, I don’t put any pressure on myself to journal every day, I just do it when I feel like it. I write down everything I am feeling good and bad and also writing down everything I am grateful; this fills me with positivity as I can see write Infront of me all the amazing things I have in my life. Give it a go, it really helps.
- Take Mental Breaks – Sometimes life can feel overwhelming, with busy schedules and a long list of things to do, this can take a toll on our mental health. Remember to check in with yourself, have some downtime, do the things you truly love and that make you happy and remember it’s okay to take some time off and have a reset. It’s completely okay.
I hope these tips have given you an insight into the small changes you can make to your daily habits to help support your mental health, give them a go and see how you feel, they really do make a difference and help a lot.
Lots of love x
