Depression is a common mental health condition where individuals experience persistent low moods and often feelings of sadness. Depression can feel very debilitating to live with.
Despite the sometimes-difficult symptoms, there are tips you can use in your day-to-day that just help you experience a more positive outlook. For example, practising positive affirmations, these are something I use and have found them to be very helpful.
Tips for Including Positive Affirmations in Your Day-to-Day
- Take a couple of minutes in the morning and before bed to repeat one positive affirmation, for example, saying something you are grateful for or welcoming the new day.
- Start a journal for your affirmations, then if you feel very low in mood or find yourself feeling sad, you can refer back to your positive affirmation entries, this can bring you some happiness and comfort in reading through these.
- Make them measurable. Notice how your mindset changes over time since including affirmation into your day-to-day, write down in your journal these times you have felt happy and positive from using your affirmations and see how this builds up over time.

- I accept myself for who I am
- I see the good in me
- I am so lucky & grateful for the things I have in my life
- I am capable of more than my mind tells me I am
- I believe in a better tomorrow

- I choose to think positively about what’s bothering me
- I choose to focus on the present moment
- I am strong and capable
- I won’t use my flaws as an excuse not to love myself
- I forgive myself for past mistakes
- I am safe
- I am allowed to celebrate my wins
- I am going to be okay
Also, get creative and make your own affirmations that are in line with your life and goals, believe in them, use positive and motivational language, keep it present and keep it simple.
