Easy Self-Care Activities

Practising self-care means taking time for yourself and doing the things that make you feel content, positive, and uplifting. It can help you live well overall and improve not only your physical health but also your mental health.

There is no ‘right’ way in how you practice your self-care, as everybody is different, what works for you might not necessarily work for someone else and vice versa. However, here are some examples and ideas of self-care activities you could try.

  • Exercise – This will always be a number one favourite of mine, even just a slow 20–30-minute walk can boost your mood, I highly recommend it.
  • Journalling – Book a journalling session with yourself sometime during the day and write down all your thoughts and feelings, any worries or things that are on your mind, sometimes getting these thoughts and feelings down on paper can help make that weight on your shoulders feel a little less heavy. Also writing down goals you want to achieve and work towards can be a way of giving you a boost of inspiration and motivation and something to look forward to. Remember, it’s just you and your journal.
  • Meditate You can do this from the comfort of your own home. Find a favourite spot in your home that fills you with calm energy, if you need some guidance on meditating, find a video online that will support you through your session. Take this time to fully relax and be present with yourself.
  • Pamper Yourself – It might sound so simple, but this activity is so effective. Run yourself a bubble bath, light a candle, follow a skincare routine, listen to/watch your favourite podcast, vlog, movie, series, listen to your favourite music, whatever it is that brings you a little boost of happiness. Put on your comfies and simply relax.

These are my top four self-care activities and the ones that I practice the most. As I said what works for you might not work for somebody else, so take these self-care ideas as a guide and try them out yourself if you wish.
