Do’s and Don’ts for The Week Ahead

Life is busy, and sometimes a new week can feel overwhelming and cause quite a lot of anxiety. Still, it can be made easier by following some simple do’s and don’ts for the week ahead, giving us that extra bit of motivation and structure we need sometimes.

List of Do’s and Don’ts

Do’s:

  • Plan your week – On Sunday, take time to write a list of priorities for the week, e.g. appointments in the calendar, work commitments, meal plans, deadlines, studying, etc and get yourself organised for the week ahead.
  • Positive mindset – Think about the things you want to achieve this week in the different areas of your life, and set yourself some realistic goals, whether that be big or small. This then gives you something to work towards and look forward to and instantly makes you feel more motivated for the week ahead.
  • Stay flexible – It is all good planning the week ahead, but sometimes unexpected things happen, so it is important to keep this in mind to avoid unnecessary panic and stress if they do.
  • Practice self-care – Whatever this looks like to you, remember to prioritise some self-care, whether that be exercising, taking breaks when they are needed, going for a walk and getting some fresh air, or treating yourself to some nice food. It is so important to look after yourself and prioritise yourself.
  • Take small steps – Sometimes big tasks can make you feel overwhelmed, so instead break these tasks down into smaller steps. Accomplishing smaller goals will keep you motivated.

Don’ts:

  • Don’t overcommit – Avoid saying yes to everything and everyone; you don’t have to take everything on all by yourself because this can cause you to feel overwhelmed and lead to burnout. It’s okay to say no when you have too much on your plate.
  • Don’t be so hard on yourself – If things don’t go to plan, don’t feel discouraged as sometimes in life these things happen, and they can’t be avoided; it is how we respond to them that can change the situation. Be kind to yourself and learn from any setbacks.
  • Don’t forget to recharge – It is so easy to get caught up in work, studying and life in general. Don’t forget to take a step back and give yourself some time to reset, recharge and take breaks to avoid burnout.
  • Don’t avoid asking for help – I know this is easier said than done sometimes for some of us, but if you feel the need to ask for help and speak to somebody about your worries or troubles, don’t be afraid to reach out when you need to.
  • Don’t multitask excessively  – Getting things done and ticked off is at the top of our list; however, don’t overdo it with multitasking; focus on what task at a time to ensure better productivity.

I hope these do’s and don’ts give you some positivity and motivation for the week ahead. I understand a new week can feel overwhelming, so give these a try and come back to them throughout the week if you need to. Wishing you the best week.

Lots of love x
