Self-Care Mental Health Checklist

It is so important to practice self-care, as this not only helps your physical health but also has a great impact on your mental health, which is just as important (sometimes we forget how important it is). Taking time to focus on your self-care can lead to better mood, sleep, focus and overall wellbeing, so we must prioritise this.

Daily Mental Health Self-Care

  • Move your body – Walk, jog, run, stretch, yoga, gym
  • Do one thing you enjoy – This could be anything, even something small
  • Practice gratitude – Remind yourself about things you are grateful for
  • Get outside – Getting outside for even just 10 minutes for some fresh air
  • Get enough sleep – Aim for 8 hours of sleep, this is an instant mood booster
  • Limit social media – Take some time to unplug and come offline
  • Drink plenty of water – Keep yourself hydrated, aim for 2-3 litres
  • Connect with others – Get in touch with family and friends, grab a coffee

Weekly Mental Health Self-Care

(I normally do this on a Sunday and have a full reset for the week)

  • Journal  – Reflect on the past week and write down goals for the new week
  • Declutter  – Clean your environment, do laundry, and declutter your space
  • Treat yourself – Just a small reward, coffee, a new book, favourite food
  • Pamper – Reset yourself, ready for the week with a little pamper
  • Check-in with people – This could be a therapist, family, friends and close ones
  • Engage in a hobby – Start a new book, go to the gym, or even try a new hobby

I hope this helps you in finding ways of taking care of yourself and prioritising all the things that make us feel good, sometimes it can be difficult to know what to do to help ourselves, so I hope these give you a few ideas and a little insight into the things that make a difference to our overall wellbeing.

Lots of love x
