Starting a new week can sometimes feel daunting and can often cause anxiety and/or low mood. We get the ‘Sunday scaries’ or ‘Monday blues’, but it doesn’t have to feel this way if you look at it differently. Below are my top five tips on how you can change your mindset, look at the week ahead more positively, and start it off on the right foot.
Organise and reset the day before
Instead of going into the week unprepared, get things sorted the day/night before, i.e., food shop, sort the laundry so you have fresh clothes ready for the week, clean the house, and pamper yourself so you feel your best before bed and when you wake up. Meal prep so you are not rushing around and thinking about what to have for your meals throughout the day. These might seem obvious and small things, but they make a HUGE difference in starting your week off right.
Set yourself up for success
Write down 2-3 goals that you want to work on/achieve in the upcoming week, this could be career goals, personal, or a project you have been working on or thinking about starting, this instantly puts you in the mindset of taking those necessary first steps to achieve your goals and having something to work towards this week, this is so exciting and something to look forward to.
Positive affirmations in the morning
As soon as you wake up say to yourself “This week is going to be a good one” or “Today is going to be a good day”, this instantly creates a positive feeling in your body and can alter your mindset for the better.
Take things slowly
If you are struggling don’t put much pressure on yourself to have it all figured out straight away, take things at a slow pace, recognise your feelings and let them be there and be patient with yourself, one step at a time.
Plan something that makes you happy
This could be planning something to do alone, with friends, family, partners etc and could be something small like going to grab a coffee, reading a new book, making time to go for a walk or trying a new hobby. The little things in life bring us the most joy and make us feel so uplifted, more than we often realise. Think of something you could do that brings you some joy.
I hope you find these tips helpful and implement these into your life so this can enable you to have the best start to the week, even if you do one or two of them, this could make all the difference, these are all tips that have worked for me, so I hope you do find them as helpful, wishing you the best week!
Lots of love x
